Earthdreams Trading Private Limited is a social venture aimed at linking rural artisans from India with global markets. India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world and is tremendously rich in culture and heritage owing to the variations in physical, climatic conditions and the extent of exposure to other cultures over the centuries Over the centuries, lots of art forms have developed across various regions in India. These were typically developed as a means of outlet of creative energy and to reflect pride and aesthetic sense of a particular region. Art and Handicraft are also a good reflection of the conditions wherein they are developed. Some of these traditional art and handicrafts have been left untouched in small pockets across India.

Earthdreams intends to bring this art to the global forefront in order to let the world discover the artistic delights of traditional India while providing a means of livelihood to these talented but poor artisans and preventing these arts and handicrafts from dying. Earthdreams strictly endorses Fair Trade principles (Fair Wages for the Artisans, Safe Working Conditions, No Gender Based Differentiation, No Child Labour)

Earthdreams is committed also to minimizing the ecological footprint of its activities. This effort is assisted by the fact that ethnic Indian art and craft use eco friendly and sustainably sourced raw materials to a large extent. Earthdreams further professes implementing a waste/ recycling philosophy. Earthdreams Eco Product Research Team™constantly looks at ways to enhance the sustainability content of product manufacturing with innovations such as using organic colours, recycled materials, environment friendly packaging etc.

Earthdreams also intends to mitigate the carbon footprint of the Product Supply Chain by investing in Carbon Offset Projects in Distributed Rural Energy and Forestry Projects. Carbon Neutral Craft (CnC™)will track emissions during the manufacture, packaging and transport of products to the buyer. Earthdreams will provide buyers Offset options to choose from.

Earthdreams also stands for transparency. It has developed one of the first Fair Trade Audit Mechanisms in India. Our proprietary Earthdreams Fair trade Self Audit (EFSA™)system tracks the manufacture process real time, which can be assessed by all stakeholders including buyers to be in order with the principles of Fair Trade. Our Carbon Offset projects will also be available to buyers for real time assessments/ visits.

In addition to livelihood generation, Earthdreams also believes in Capacity Building in rural India. We will reinvest 10% of our profits for health care, basic education and vocational training in our operating regions. However, we do not see this as philanthropy, but as an investment to build on our resource base.
